February

It's snowing almost everyday here in Heidelberg. Shouldn't the month that contains Valentine's Day be full of sunshine and happiness?? Well, here are a few photos from our trip to Versailles to conjure up those warm feelings. These are of Le Hameau, Marie Antoinette's make-believe farming village.

An idyllic little farmhouse in the afternoon sun.

Cheery gardens of vegetables and flowers.

Chard and salad greens!

Bright geraniums line the steps up to a side door.

Spring is coming, right?

Damn it, it's snowing EVERYWHERE but in Washington! Personally I find a snowy Valentine's day to be an attractive prospect; no guilt about staying indoors having chocolate :). I love Marie Antoinette's play village. Have you read Fraser's biography of her? I got it a few years ago and thought it was fascinating stuff.

Well, a snowy Valentine's would be better than the steely gray days we're having now... Sigh. Haven't read Fraser's biography, but I'd like to! Hope it's not too rainy now in Washington!
