Jean Baudrillard, french philosopher, died yesterday. Or, as the Onion wrote in Derrida's obituary, he "died." The title of this blog was inspired by him.
This is indeed a sad passing, but perhaps Baud has now encountered the real, that is, the simulacrum of all simulacra. This Guardian obit is the best, but I'm glad to see that the NYT learned from the Derrida debacle and published a fair and even kind obit this time around for Jean. Three cheers for simulation!
